Black Mouth Curs at Work: WOW!
One of my new favorite Flickr posters is Julie.Anna, and she posted an AMAZING set of photos of some of her curs at work. This is what Henry’s breed was intended for — hunting, herding, and controlling wildlife on the Texas frontier.
All of the photos are linked to the full res size in her flickr gallery, and I suggest clicking through — the clarity, sharpness, and timing of the photos is amazing.

Glad to see your educating the world about the cur personality! So many people underestimate the mental and physical stimulation these dogs need. Some are OK as jogging buddies, mine needed to hog hunt to stay sane, but all of them require a big commitment. Of course they’ll pay you back with incredible loyalty and lots of entertainment.
And these are actually not Black Mouth Curs. Usually included in the great cur family, the Lacy is a distinct breed. They are much smaller than BMCs, only 30-50 lbs, are less hound-ish in their build and come in blue, red and tri colors. Lacys are actually the only breed to have developed in Texas and are the Official State Dog. But I know a lot of BMCs and their personalities are extremely similar.
